What Bookary is
Bookary stores the ebooks you upload and lets you read them in a browser on any of your devices. It is a place to keep books you already have. It is not a bookshop and it does not supply books.
Your books are yours
You keep every right you had in what you upload. We claim no ownership of it. We store it, convert it into formats a browser can read, and serve it back to you — and we do those things because you asked us to, not because uploading grants us anything else.
We do not read your books, sell them, share them, or use them to train anything.
What you promise
- You have the right to upload what you upload.
- You will not use Bookary to distribute someone else's work.
- Your account is yours alone; it is not a shared library.
Storage
Your plan sets how much you can store. Only the files you upload count against it — formats we derive so a book can be read in a browser are our overhead, not yours, and are never billed to you.
Paying
A paid plan is a subscription that renews until you stop it. Payment is taken by Stripe on its own pages — your card details never reach Bookary. You can cancel at any time from your account; cancelling stops the next renewal and you keep the paid plan until the period you have already paid for runs out.
If a payment fails, we do not lock you out on the first failure. Your access ends when the payment processor says the subscription is over, not the first time a bank declines a card — the common reasons are an expired card or a fraud heuristic, and neither is a reason to shut somebody out of their own library.
If a paid plan ends
Ending a paid plan is a downgrade, not a deletion. Every book you uploaded stays, stays readable, and stays downloadable, even if you are over the free plan's limits — and you may sit above those limits indefinitely. The only thing that stops is adding more: the next upload is refused until you are back under the limit or subscribe again. We do not delete your books to make you pay for them.
Ending it
You can delete your account whenever you like, and doing so removes your files as well as your rows. We can suspend an account that is being used to break these terms; if we do, we will tell you why and you will be able to export your data first.
What we do not promise
Bookary is provided as it is. We work hard to keep it running and backed up, and we test that the backups restore — but no service is guaranteed to be available, and none is a substitute for keeping your own copy of anything you cannot bear to lose. Please keep your originals.
Changes
If these terms change in a way that affects you, we will tell you before the change takes effect rather than after.
